Restricted applications

Application managers can use the Members portlet to restrict the use of a composite application to members with assigned roles.

Composite applications that are open to members only are restricted applications. When authenticated users (individuals and groups) are assigned to a composite application, they become members. Members are listed in the membership portlet according to their roles. Roles provide access to the pages and components of the application. Some roles also permit membership management. Members use the membership portlet to view the list of current members and their roles and to contact each other. Members in a role that grants permission to manage the membership of the application use the membership portlet to add new members (individuals or groups) and assign them roles. Members who can manage membership also use the membership portlet to restrict (or expand) access to the application and perform other membership management tasks that are not available to general users of the application.
