Restore applications
Click the Restore icon in the applications catalog to restore an application that has been backed up or archived.
You must have administrator or application manager permission to restore applications. An application is available for restoration only if it has been backed up or archived (backed up and deleted from the server).
Administrators can restore archived applications. Application managers can restore backed-up applications.
From the applications catalog, perform these steps:
- If you are an administrator you can restore an application that has been archived, that is, an application that has been backed up and deleted from the server where it was an active application. Only administrators can restore an application that has been archived because it exceeded the limits set by its policy.
- If you are an application manager, you can restore an earlier version of an application that has been backed up, but not deleted. If you are an application manager who wants to restore an application that has one or more archive copies, only the most recent backup copy will be restored. You will not be able to select archive copies for restoration.
Information in the application that users customized was not copied during backup; therefore, you will need to use the XML configuration interface to import user-customized application information after you restore the application from a backup or an archive copy.
- Select an application for which the Restore icon is available.
- Click the Restore icon.
- Review the list of applications that are available for restoration:
- If you are an application manager, the most recent backup copy of the application is selected by default.
This copy of the application will be restored.
- If you are an administrator, you can choose to restore any previous version of the application: a backup or an archive.
- Keep the default selection or select an archive, if permissible.
- Click Restore Application to restore the selected application.
- Restore an application can take a long time. You will not receive a confirmation message.
Therefore, perform the following actions to check the status of the restore process:
- Periodically check the active application directory on the file server to verify that the application backup or archive has been restored.
- Alternatively, show All Active Applications in the applications catalog, or click the Backup icon to see if the application is listed as an available one for backup.
- If you suspect that the restore process has been interrupted or has failed, you can unlock the application to troubleshoot the problem.
- Review the restoration log to troubleshoot problems that might occur.
