Integrate Lotus Domino applications and mail
Integrate IBMLotus Dominomail with IBM WebSphere Portal enables users to manage their email from the portal. You can configure email integration whether you are using the Lotus Domino LDAP server or if you are using a different LDAP server for portal authentication. Regardless of the LDAP that portal uses to authenticate, you need to set up single sign on. The procedure to configure single sign is the same for either configuration and is included in this section.
There are two email integration environments, WebSphere Portal is configured to use Lotus Domino or WebSphere Portal is not configured to use Lotus Domino as the LDAP server.
If WebSphere Portal is configured to use Lotus Domino, the following actions occur:
If WebSphere Portal is configured to use another supported LDAP server, other than Domino, the following actions occur:
- WebSphere Portal authenticates with the Lotus Domino LDAP server and
- Domino mail server authenticates with the native Domino LDAP
To integrate email into the portal, first configure single sign on and then configure the email integration. There are two procedures for email integration, one for when portal is configured to use Lotus Domino and another for when portal is configured to use a different LDAP server.
- WebSphere Portal authenticates with the non-Domino LDAP server and
- Domino mail server authenticates with the native Domino LDAP
1. Configure single sign-on between WebSphere Portal and Lotus Domino
You configure the single sign-on (SSO) feature between the IBM WebSphere Portal server and the IBM Lotus Domino servers so that authentication works the same way for all Lotus Domino and Extended Products Portlets. A user can log in to WebSphere Portal and then access portlets that contain information from a Lotus Domino application or service without having to enter additional credentials for authentication.
2. Configure email integration
When configuring IBM WebSphere Portal integration with a Domino mail file, you have a few options in the portlets that you choose – the iNotes portlet or the Notes View portlet which uses the portlet type MyMail, MyInbox, or MyCalendar. With both portlets, you can configure collaborative services to automatically detect the mail file.
3. Configure server, database, and view pickers
Administrators can choose whether to let users select from the server, database, and view pickers when they work with the iNotes portlet or the Notes View portlet. Access to the pickers gives users some additional flexibility but is not required for the portlets to work. Keep in mind that point Collaborative Services to a Domino LDAP server for the database picker to work, and that the view picker requires an HTTP connection, so you will need to ensure that single sign-on works.
