Edit template properties

Each application template property -- name, category, description, theme, and owner -- describes a basic element of the composite application template. Use the Properties portlet to edit template properties.

You must have permission to edit the application template.

To edit an application template:

  1. Click Edit to display the template properties in edit mode.

  2. Edit the properties as needed.

      Application template name

The name of the application template.

Valid values: Any alphanumeric characters, except special characters. The name cannot include leading or trailing spaces and cannot exceed 126 characters.

      Category

The type of application that this template defines. The default category is Root template folder If a category does not exist for the type of composite application that you want the template to build, you can create a new category. Click New Category, type the name of a new category, and click OK.

User-defined names for new categories can contain any alphanumeric characters, except special characters. New category names cannot include leading or trailing spaces and cannot exceed 126 characters.

When you create a new template category, a corresponding application category is created with the same name as the template category.

Create a new category does not affect the content of the template or the content of existing applications that apply the template. The new category will be available for selection when users create applications and when they sort the applications catalog.

Defines the look and layout (fonts, colors, images) of template pages. Cannot be edited.

Default value: Inherit Parent Theme indicates that applications that apply this template use the theme specified by the server for the site. All applications that inherit the parent theme will have a uniform appearance, typically the look and layout used to establish the brand identity of the organization.

      Owner

The user ID of the person who owns the template.

Only the current template owner or administrator can edit this field. If you are the owner of the template or an administrator, you can delegate template ownership to another user who has permission to create application templates. Permission to create templates is granted by user role, which is assigned by Resource Permissions.
