Back up applications

Click the Backup icon in the applications catalog to copy and archive a composite application.

You must have administrator or application manager permission to back up applications. If you do not want to store the application archive in the default backup directory, specify another backup directory by editing the custom property backup.root of the resource environment provider WP AIInitService. Information in the application that users have customized is not copied during backup; therefore, you will need to use the XML configuration interface to export user-customized application information before the application is archived and deleted.

From the applications catalog, perform these steps:

  1. Select an application.

  2. Click the Backup icon.

  3. In the Backup Application window, review the list of Prior Backups for the application.

  4. Optional. Clean up old backups on the server: Click the Delete icon for the backup you want to delete.

  5. Click Create Backup.

The application that is being backed up is locked to all users.

  6. Back up an application can take a long time. You will not receive a confirmation message.

Therefore, perform the following actions to check the status of the backup process:

      1. Periodically check the backup directory on the file server to verify that the application archive has been saved.

      2. Alternatively, show Archived Applications in the applications catalog, or click the Prior Backups icon to see if the backup is listed as an available archive for restoration.

      3. If you suspect that the backup process has been interrupted or has failed, you can unlock the application to troubleshoot the problem.

The active instance of the application is automatically deleted from the server.

  7. Review the backup log to troubleshoot problems that might occur.

When the backup process has finished, an archive copy of the application is stored to the default directory WP_PROFILE/PortalServer/backup or in the directory that you specified in the custom property backup.root of the resource environment provider WP AIInitService.
