Migrate existing themes to the new theme architecture
The new Page Builder theme architecture of WebSphere Portal v7.0 is designed to be a single architecture to replace past traditional portal themes and Mashup themes. You can use two approaches for converting an existing theme into the new theme architecture:
- Start with the new portal V 7 theme, and move in components from existing custom theme. To take advantage of all the new features of the new Page Builder theme, it is usually easier to use this option. This makes sure that new theme includes all new infrastructure and API required to support all the latest features of the current portal version.
- Start with existing custom theme and add in what is required for the new features. Use this option, if you do not need all features, for example, if you do not plan to exploit client-side rendering.
Move a JSP-based theme to the new architecture
You can migrate JSP-based theme to the new theme architecture by using different ways.
Move a mashup theme to the new architecture
Mashup themes are already a static theme.html file that contains client-side iWidgets to handle the interaction model. Therefore the conversion effort is small.
