Hints and tips for working with page builder
- Page Builder does not use drag and drop tags. Page Builder uses the Dojo drag and drop framework.
- Privileged users cannot edit the layout of a non-private page. This is because Page Builder pages use static layout templates, and changing them requires the user have access to update page metadata.
Known limitations
Page builder has the following limitations:
- Page builder and the Page Builder theme do not support the following portal features:
- Side navigation. The Page Builder theme does not use side navigation. Therefore, if a user of a portal with the page builder theme hides the top navigation, for example by selecting SideNavOnly and turning the theme style into side navigation only, then the navigation will disappear.
- Locked containers.
- Portal style classes.
- The portal color palette for themes.
- The page builder skins support the directional Move options in their portlet context menus only if the current page is rendered with a layout template. If a legacy layout is in use, the Move options are not available in the portlet context menus.
- The new page dialog launched from page builder can only customize the page title and its privacy mode and only supports creating normal portal pages with modeled layouts.
- If a privileged user works with pages under the Page Builder theme and navigates to Actions -> Move Page, it can happen that the user moves a private page underneath the Hidden Pages label. This results in a loss of the moved page, as the Hidden Pages label and all its sub-pages contain the com.ibm.portal.Hidden metadata, and pages under that label do not show up in the portal navigation. The portal administrator cannot retrieve the page either, as it is privately owned by the privileged user. To resolve this problem, block the privileged user from dropping pages under the Hidden Pages label. To do this, select the Resource Permissions portlet, and change the role for the All Authenticated Portal Users group on the Hidden Pages label from the Privileged User role to the User role only.
