Different authoring templates such as Announcements, Events, Company News, and FAQs help to simplify the content creation process. However, before any content that you create can appear on a site, it must pass through a series of stages (a workflow) and be in the Publish stage. The authoring templates in the intranet and internet site templates use two predefined workflows:

Standard Workflow has 4 stages:

When you work with authoring templates that use Standard Workflow, content that you save goes to Draft stage. An administrator must review and publish draft content before it can appear with other available contents. Alternatively, to move the content to the Review stage, you can choose Save and approve. From there, click Next stage to publish the content. Authoring templates that use Standard Workflow include Latest News (in the intranet site template), and Products and Company News (in the Internet site template).

QuickFlow has just 2 stages:

When you work with authoring templates that use QuickFlow, content is published immediately when you click Save. Authoring templates that use QuickFlow include Announcements and Events (in the intranet site template) and What's New, Promotions, and FAQs (in the internet site template).

By default, users in the All Authenticated Portal Users group have privileged user access to the Intranet and Internet Site Templates. Thus every authenticated Portal user can customize these pages. To restrict this group to view access, remove the group from the Privileged user role of the Intranet and Internet Site Templates and add it to the User role.

In addition to privileged user access, users in the contentAuthors group have editor access to the Internet and Intranet Site Template content that is created and maintained with Web Content Manager. A content author can edit the content that is delivered out of the box, as well as create, edit, and delete new content for the Internet and Intranet Site Templates.

You can access the IBM WebSphere Portal v7.0 sample intranet and internet sites through the More menu in the main portal banner, or by opening one of the following web pages in a browser:
