Add content

Add content to a page by selecting a portlet for portal pages or a widget for mashup pages from the content source: Create, All, Administration, Collaboration, Tools.

To add content, proceed as follows:

  1. Select Actions -> Edit Page.

  2. Click the Customize button on the toolbar to open the content catalog.

  3. Select a category from the menu on the side.

  4. Filter the results displayed by typing space separated search strings into the input box near the upper corner.

The portal connects the space separated search terms by AND. Example: If you search for login search, the result list shows all terms that contain both login and search in their titles or descriptions. You cannot filter the results by connecting search strings by OR.

Some of the categories on the left are not searchable because underlying tagging feeds are not searchable.

  5. Page through the content by using the Previous and Next links or the Jump to page ___ input underneath the search results.

  6. To see more information about a particular piece of content, click the title to view a popup dialog that details the item.

  7. Add an item to the page using drag an drop, by clicking the Add to Page button on the details dialog or the plus ( + ) icon to the side of the title in the list of results. If an item has more than one renderer, a dialog pops up with a drop-down box of choices; select a choice to render the content and click the Add button. A placeholder appears on page. It contains the title of the new content.

  8. To save and view newly added items, click the Save button.

This synchronizes the page area so that you can see all content.

Saving the page after adding content results in a full page refresh to render the new content added to the page on server side pages.

  9. Rearrange the page by dragging and dropping the pieces of content as required.

      Content sources

When you create a page in the portal, you can customize page content from several content categories.

      Add a custom content source

You can also add own custom content.

      Add other custom content

You can also add other content to a page. You can add a source of content by creating a new category and tagging portlets with that new category.
