Work with elements
Use elements to either store or generate Web content.
You can add elements to sites, site areas, content items and authoring templates, or you can create a stand-alone component for a specific element type.
- Creating links
Use these elements to define or generate links between different pages in a Web site.

Use different types of elements to store text or HTML depending on the type of text or HTML being created.

Use these elements to store files or images.
- Referencing external content
Use these elements to reference content stored in other WebSphere Portal applications, or stored outside of WebSphere Portal.
- Selection elements
Use these elements to make selections from existing elements and data.
- Design elements
Use these elements to enhance the design of presentation templates and other elements designs.
- Personalized content
Use these elements to create or reference personalized content.
- Naming elements
Use an element tag to display the content of an element within a presentation template or element design. The name of each displayed element must match the "key" defined in the element tag. The element types do not have to be consistent.
