Authoring portlet accessibility features
Accessibility features help a user who has a physical disability, such as restricted mobility or limited vision, to use software products successfully.
The IBM Lotus Web Content Management authoring portlet supports the following accessibility features:
- Screen-reader software and a digital speech synthesizer: You can use these tools to hear what is displayed on the screen.
- Native browser accessibility features: The accessibility features of supported browsers (large fonts, high contrast colors) are supported in the authoring portlet.
Writing accessible Web content
The Web Content Management application does not check whether content written in Web Content Management is accessible. There are ways you can ensure that the content you develop in Web Content Management is accessible. Refer to IBM's Accessibility site for further information:
View error, warning and information messages using JAWS
When using JAWS you can check for error, warning and information messages after executing an action. To do this:
- Click Ctrl+Home.
- Click 'b' to hear "Click to perform a search button".
- Click 'b' again to hear "Close+Alt+Shift+c buttom".
- Click shift+g to hear what type of message is displayed.
- Click the down arrow to hear the error, message or information message.
If these steps do not find a message, then search for a graphic that is titled "error", "information" or "warning" and then click the down arrow to hear the error, information or warning message.
