Prepare your System i5
View information on setting up your operating system for WebSphere Portal. Other components might require additional steps; see the product documentation for the specific components you want to install.
WebSphere Portal can be installed locally or remotely using a Windows workstation. You need the following information to install remotely:
- A supported version of Microsoft Windows
- Workstation CD-ROM drive
- TCP/IP connection to the i5/OS system where you will install WebSphere Portal
- The System i5 server must be in an unrestricted state
- A valid user ID and password on the i5/OS system
- A user profile with a user type (user class) of *SECOFR (other than QSECOFR) to install WebSphere Portal
You need the following information to install locally:
- i5/OS CD-ROM drive
- The System i5 server must be in an unrestricted state
- A valid i5/OS user ID and password
- A user profile with a user type (user class) of *SECOFR (other than QSECOFR) to install WebSphere Portal
