Prepare your System i5

View information on setting up your operating system for WebSphere Portal. Other components might require additional steps; see the product documentation for the specific components you want to install.

WebSphere Portal can be installed locally or remotely using a Windows workstation. You need the following information to install remotely:

• A supported version of Microsoft Windows

• Workstation CD-ROM drive

• TCP/IP connection to the i5/OS system where you will install WebSphere Portal

• The System i5 server must be in an unrestricted state

• A valid user ID and password on the i5/OS system

• A user profile with a user type (user class) of *SECOFR (other than QSECOFR) to install WebSphere Portal

You need the following information to install locally:

• i5/OS CD-ROM drive

• The System i5 server must be in an unrestricted state

• A valid i5/OS user ID and password

• A user profile with a user type (user class) of *SECOFR (other than QSECOFR) to install WebSphere Portal
