Usage notes for the IBM Syndicated Feed Portlet
View some points to remember when using IBM Syndicated Feed Portlet for WebSphere Portal.
IBM recommends that you make a note of the following points when using the IBM Syndicated Feed Portlet:
- IBM Syndicated Feed Portlet supports the following authentication methods:
- Basic authentication
- Form-based authentication
- Single Sign-On (SSO) via LTPA and Netegrity SiteMinder
- The xml file to which you export the feed details from one instance of IBM Syndicated Feed Portlet cannot be used to import the exported feed details into another instance of the portlet.
- Initially, the user views the feeds in the View mode as per the settings configured by the Administrator from the Configure mode of the portlet. Thereafter, if the user modifies the settings from the Personalize mode, then these settings take precedence over the subsequent settings that the Administrator configures from the Configure mode.
- If you encounter problems viewing feeds that use international character sets, please perform the steps listed in the Viewing feeds using international character sets from the IBM Syndicated Feed Portlet for Websphere Portal technote.
