Portlet Factory, Version 6.1.2

IBM Lotus Expeditor and Lotus Notes 8 platform requirements and pre-requisites

IBM® Lotus® Expeditor 6.1.1 and Lotus Notes® 8 added the capability to support dynamic translation of JSPs (previous versions only supported precompiled JSPs) which WebSphere Portlet Factory requires. Unfortunately, it is not yet in the core features installed with IBM Lotus Expeditor and Lotus Notes 8, but rather from an update site provided with IBM Lotus Expeditor and Lotus Notes 8 where optional IBM Lotus Expeditor platform features may be installed. For IBM Lotus Expeditor, the Web Translation feature may be found in the platform update site along with other optional features provided with the Lotus Expeditor media, and it may be installed manually using the IBM Lotus Expeditor update manager, or using the IBM Lotus Expeditor managed server (see the IBM Lotus Expeditor documentation for more information on managing IBM Lotus Expeditor using a centralized server). A Lotus Notes 8 support TechNote documents how to install the Lotus Notes Supplemental Features, including the Web Translator feature.

Note: To use WebCharts, or any similar portlet features relying on Java AWT/Swing, you need to be running IBM Lotus Expeditor on the full Java J2SE JVM. A full Java J2SE JVM is provided with the IBM Lotus Expeditor DRE update site, rather than the default smaller jclDesktop Java Virtual Machine that IBM Lotus Expeditor installs by default.
