Portlet Factory, Version 6.1.2
Portal Event Declaration builder
Use the Portal Event Declaration builder to define a portal event and create a method for firing the event.
Note: This builder is deprecated. For new implementations of events, use the Cooperative Portlet Source and Cooperative Portlet Target buidlers.
This builder supports events in IBM® WebSphere® Portal servers only. This builder does not support JSR 168 portal events.
The method created by this builder is named: firebuildername. Use an Event Handler builder call to associate an action with the event created by this builder.
Note: Use the Factory Portal Event event type when interacting with other IBM WebSphere Portlet Factory Portlets. This event type is more flexible than the other choices available. If you need to interact with non- WebSphere Portlet Factory portlets (IBM or SAP), choose the appropriate WebSphere Portal Server or SAP event type, depending on the portal container in which you are working.
- About using the builder call editor
The builder call editor allows you to specify all the input values to a builder call.
- Portal Event Declaration builder inputs
This topic describes the inputs for the Portal Event Declaration builder.
- Choosing an event type
The Portal Event Declaration builder supports the following types of portal events.
- Cooperative Portlet Source builder
With the Cooperative Portlet Source and the Cooperative Portlet Target builders, you create portlets that can interact with each other to share information. One or more target portlets on a portal page can automatically react to changes from a source portlet when the source portlet triggers an event.
- Event Handler builder
The Event Handler builder lets you specify an action to perform when a specified event occurs.
