Portlet Factory, Version 6.1.2

Linked Model builder

Use the Linked Model builder to create and include modular functional units in an application.

Linked models are roughly analogous to Java™ classes. They contain methods and state data that can be easily accessed by the outer model (that is, the model that contains the Linked Model builder). An outer model can directly access any public methods, linked Java objects (LJOs), and action lists defined in the Linked Model builder.

Do not use linked models for inserting pages and other visual components from the linked model into the pages of the outer model. Use the Model Container builder for visual embedding.

  • Linked models

Linked models provide a mechanism for the WebApp developer to reuse and share model functionality among other WebApps.

  • How do I use Click-to-Action portlets?

Click-to-Action (C2A) is a feature of IBM® WebSphere® Portal that allows data to be transferred and shared among multiple WebSphere Application Server portlets via UI elements such as drop-down menus.

  • Model Container builder

Use the Model Container builder to reserve a place on a page at which a model is to be placed.

  • Shared Variable builder

Use this builder to share data between model or application instances, or between IBM WebSphere Portlet Factory and non- WebSphere Portlet Factory code.
