Portlet Factory, Version 6.1.2

About using the builder picker

The builder picker lists builders available in your environment and provides you with a way to select a builder that you can add to your model. The builder picker shows the following panes by default:

  • Category name

This pane provides folders to help you manage builders and find related builders. All supplied builders are assigned at least one category, and you can view the builders according to their category in the builder picker. Some builders appear in multiple categories. Categories provide a way to organize builders. For example, clicking Page Elements under Category name lists all the builders that involve creating and manipulating pages.

    Recommended

Click Recommended to display under Builder the names of all recommended builders in any category. Expand Recommended to list the recommended categories. A recommended category is one that is associated with whatever object is selected in the Application Tree view. Click one of these recommended categories to limit the list under Builder to builder names that are in the selected category.

    All

Lists available builders. If you do not see a builder on the list, you may have to upgrade your project version or use project properties to add a feature set.

    Most Recently Used

Lists names of builders that you accessed from the builder picker while you were working in the current workspace.

    Favorites

Lists builder names that you selected. To add to the list, click a builder name and click Add to Favorites or click Manage Favorites and use the dialog that displays all builder names.

Use Manage Favorites to remove entries from the list.

    Search Results

Click Search Results to list under Builder the names of all builders associated with the keywords that you saved from the search box.

For example, if you enter the letter p in the search box at the top of the builder pane, a scrollable dropdown list shows all keywords containing p. If you enter the keyword page, all keywords containing page are shown.

Click a keyword to have it appear in the text box and be saved in Search Results. The names of the builders associated with that keyword are shown under Builder. Click the last entry in the dropdown list (All builder keywords containing and your search term) to add the keywords to Search Results and list under Builder the associated builder names.

Expand Search Results to list saved keywords. Click a keyword to limit the list under Builder to the names of builders associated with that keyword.

Search Results is cleared when the Builder Picker dialog closes.

    Assorted categories

The names of categories currently in IBM® WebSphere Portlet Factory Designer are listed. If you add a builder with a new category, its category is listed here too.

  • Builder

This pane lists builder names in alphabetical order based on your selection in Category name or by keyword entered in the search box. You add a builder to your model by selecting the name and clicking OK.

  • Help tray

By default, this pane displays information about the selected builder so that you can decide whether it is the builder to add. The pane provides links to further information about the builder.

If you selected to not show the help tray by default, press F1 or click the question mark icon to display it again.

The builder picker lets you add any builder included in, or added to, your WebSphere Portlet Factory installation.

If you select a builder and click OK, the builder picker closes and runs the builder call editor for that builder.
