WCM migration overview
This topic contains information about the processes involved in migrating IBM Lotus WCM data and portlets.
You perform WCM migration as part of your overall IBM WebSphere Portal migration process.
Data repositories
You cannot migrate data from a WCM system that uses IBM Content Manager or Cloudscape as a data repository. Change the data repository on your old system to either, DB2, Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server 2000 using the repository configuration task. Please refer to the WebSphere Portal 5.1 Information Center for details.
The WCM migration process
- Migrate every WebSphere Portal server used in your old Web content system.
- Migrate your Web content data from a single Web content system containing your most recent data to a single server on your new system. This would normally be an authoring system. If you have decentralized authoring systems, you will need to aggregate all you current data onto a single system using syndication and then migrate the data from this system. See Migrating a primary Web content system for further information.
- Syndicate the migrated data to all the other servers in your new Web content system. See Syndication for further information.
- Configure any authoring portlets to use the migrated data. See Set up the authoring server for further information.
- Migrate rendering portlets and user data on all other servers in your Web content system. See Migrating a secondary Web content system for further information.
- Enable a cluster if required.
