CA APM workstation
The NeoLoad interface can be configured to display quick launch links to open the CA APM Workstation by CA Technologies, allowing easy comparing of statistics between NeoLoad and CA APM. To enable the display of these links, it is necessary to:
- configure the connection and login parameters for CA APM Workstation
- configure the mapping and define the CA APM agent for the applications monitored by CA APM, as documented in Monitored applications
The CA APM Workstation is configured in the Workstation Settings tab of the CA APM Preferences panel.
To display the CA APM Workstation quick launch links, the Enable CA APM Workstation quick open link option must be selected, the connection to the Java Web Start server must be configured, and the login and password for the CA APM Enterprise Manager component must be entered.
- Java Web Start settings: The Java Web Start server is used to download the CA APM Workstation launch file (JNLP extension). The Host is the domain name or IP address of the Web server hosting the Enterprise Manager component. The Web server port is entered when installing CA APM.
The URL http://<host>:<port> allows launching the CA APM Workstation remotely.
- Enterprise Manager settings: The connection to Enterprise Manager is specified with the login and password.
The default domain name is "SuperDomain". To use a specific domain (e.g. "MyDomain"), the Domain name field must be filled in as follows: "SuperDomain/MyDomain". This field value corresponds to the first node in the tree in the Investigator view in CA APM, stars excluded.
- Launch CA APM Workstation console: This button makes it possible to test the parameters set in the preceding sections. The CA APM Workstation opens at the home page. If this fails, the connection settings are incorrect or the CA APM server cannot be accessed.
Opening the CA APM Workstation console is based on Java Web Start technology. The first launch involves downloading the application JAR files, which may require several seconds.
Upon first launch, the OS warns that the application digital signature cannot be verified. It is necessary to check the option to trust content from this source and run the application.
- Time interval start and end settings: The test time period can be widened in the event of a time difference between the NeoLoad Controller machine and the CA APM server. If the NeoLoad Controller machine time is ahead of the CA APM server, it is recommended to put the time interval forward by filling in the first field. Conversely, if the CA APM server is ahead of the NeoLoad Controller machine, it is necessary to put the time interval back using the second field.
