Manage LDAP server connections (Federation)

To access data from outside of the appliance, define a server connection. Obtain the connection information for an existing LDAP database server. With a Federation module activated, we can create server connections to an LDAP data source. We can have multiple servers for an LDAP connection. Even though other server connection types are available to select in the local management interface, such as DB2, only the LDAP server connection is used by Federation module. If you also have the Advanced Access Control module activated, we can create any of the server connection types. See Manage LDAP server connections.

Steps

  1. Log in to the local management interface.

  2. Click...

Federation > Global Settings > Server Connections

  3. Take one of the following actions:

      Filter server connections:

      1. In the Quick Filter field, type one or more characters. For example, enter g to search for all server connection names that contain g or G.
      2. Press Enter.

      Add a server connection:

      1. Click the Add drop-down button.

      2. Select LDAP.

      3. Complete the properties for the new server connection. See Server connection properties. Look specifically for the LDAP properties.

      Modify an existing server connection:

      1. Select a server connection.

      2. Click the edit iconEdit.

      3. Complete the properties for the server connection. See Server connection properties.

      Delete a server connection:

Be careful about removing a server connection that is in use.

      1. Select a server connection.

      2. Click the delete iconDelete.

      3. Click Delete to confirm the deletion.

What to do next

After defining a server connection to an LDAP data source, we can create an attribute source that looks up information from the LDAP server.
