Changes in the group membership and the resulting permissions do not take effect until after the user logs out. A search for group membership can result in errors. Be sure to log out of WebSphere Portal after making any changes to group membership, including adding members to a group or assigning new permissions. When you login again, modifications to group membership and permissions have been updated and display correctly. Note that the new attribute must be defined to Member Services by updating the database before setting a value for that attribute.
When the portal is installed, the portal administrator does not have MANAGE permission for all user groups. Therefore, when the portal administrator uses Portal Administration to search for all users or groups, not all of the users or groups are found. To give the portal administrator or the group wpsadmins MANAGE permission for user groups, the portal administrator can use the Access Control List task of the Portal Administration Security page.
