Install Lotus QuickPlace
Set up Lotus QuickPlace to work with the WebSphere Portal offers portal users the ability to use instances of the QuickPlace portlet. This section provides general steps for installing and setting up QuickPlace, and instructions for adding the QuickPlaceServlet. Hints and tips for installing QuickPlace 3.0.1 for use with WebSphere Portal
The following information is specific for installing QuickPlace 3.0.1, which is included with some editions of WebSphere Portal. Usage restrictions apply. For example, you are authorized to install and use QuickPlace solely and exclusively with WebSphere Portal. A separate license is required to access QuickPlace from a source other than WebSphere Portal. Consult the product license for details.
- Lotus Domino 5.0.12 is a prerequisite
You must install and set up QuickPlace on a Domino server. Refer to Install Lotus Domino for information.- Set up the LDAP directory that QuickPlace will use prior to installation
It is recommended that you set up the LDAP directory that QuickPlace will use prior to installing QuickPlace. This includes setting up the required users and group. Also, it is recommended that you use Domino Directory as your LDAP service. Refer to Install Lotus Domino for information about installing Domino as an LDAP server. Refer to Set up LDAP for information on setting up LDAP for use with portal.- The QuickPlace server requires a dedicated IP address on your iSeries system. Refer to the product documentation for more information.
- Before you install QuickPlace for use with Sametime
The following information is specific for using QuickPlace with Sametime.
- If you will use QuickPlace and Sametime together, follow specific setup instructions. For more information, see the following Lotus technotes:
- Technote 7003786 "QuickPlace for iSeries: Enabling Integration with Sametime"
- Technote 1091353 "Sametime for iSeries: Can Sametime 3.x and QuickPlace Be Installed on the Same System?"
- For QuickPlace and Sametime to work together, both servers must use the same LDAP directory, and Domino Directory (LDAP) is recommended.
- For QuickPlace and Sametime to work together, a Web SSO configuration document must exist for the domain. In addition, set up multiserver single signon authentication on both the QuickPlace server and Sametime server. To do this on the QuickPlace server, edit the settings with Domino Administrator. Refer to Configure Lotus QuickPlace and WebSphere Portal to work together for details. The Sametime installation program automatically sets up this authentication setting for you during the Sametime installation.
- If you enable SSL on one of the servers, also enable it on the other server.

To locate the latest instructions for installing QuickPlace, do one of the following:
- Refer to the product documentation provided with the software
Check the QuickPlace software image for documentation. Depending on how you have accessed the software image, you might find the documentation on disc or on an image downloaded from a Web site.- Refer to the QuickPlace installation guide on the Lotus Developer Domain Web site
- Go to the Documentation Library on the Lotus Web site.
- Follow the instructions in the guide Install and Managing QuickPlace 3.0.1 for iSeries to install QuickPlace.
Important: If you use the QuickPlace installation guide to install the QuickPlace software that is included with some editions of WebSphere Portal, note the following:
- Software usage restrictions apply for QuickPlace. Read the product license that is provided with your copy of WebSphere Portal to understand the terms of entitlement for the QuickPlace software shipped with WebSphere Portal.
- You might have access to the QuickPlace installation programs on discs provided with WebSphere Portal, or on software images from a download site.
