What's next?

After you have completed installing WAS, use these resources in the iSeries Information Center to learn more about WAS.

Samples and applications
This topic describes how to use the WAS samples gallery. The samples gallery provides a set of small, generic samples that show how to perform common enterprise application tasks.

Basic configuration scenarios
This topic continues where the Installation guide stops. It uses scenarios to show you how to configure the WebSphere Application product and deploy a sample application.

Configure and manage WAS
This topic describes how to configure and manage the WAS product.

Application Development
This topic includes information about how to program server-side Java(TM) components that run in WAS.

For your iSeries server to achieve good performance with WebSphere applications, tune your iSeries server. OS/400, Java, and WAS tuning techniques and tips can be found in the Redbook "Java and WebSphere Performance on IBM eServer iSeries Servers," SG24-6256-00. Although this Redbook is based on WAS V4.0, many Java and WebSphere tuning knobs are similar to WAS V5.0. For more information, see Java and WebSphere Performance on IBM eServer iSeries Servers Link outside Information Center.
