Planning the installation
This topic covers planning for the installation of Linux® on the integrated server platforms.
This provides the basic information needed to plan for the implementation of Linux on the integrated server platforms. The distributors provide special instructions for the installation of their Linux distributions on supported BladeCenter and xSeries® models. You must follow these special instructions during the installation process.
The hardware installation and configuration is not covered in depth because it is identical to that which has been documented elsewhere for Windows® integration. However, there are some minor differences in the supported hardware between integrated Windows and Linux servers, which are documented. The general considerations involved in installing the hardware for those who are unfamiliar with the integration product are summarized, and references are provided to more detailed information regarding supported hardware configurations. Postinstallation tasks you need to perform to complete the installation of the integrated Linux server are also covered.
