Performing the migration

 

To prepare for and perform a data migration from both a source system that does support the V5R4 release of i5/OS^® and a source system that does not support the V5R4 release of i5/OS, follow these general procedures.

Before you begin these tasks, be sure you have completed the necessary planning. You can migrate your data by using one of these paths:

If you can load i5/OS V5R4 on your source system, perform these procedures.

1. Prepare for the migration.

2. Complete the migration.

If you cannot load i5/OS V5R4 on your source system, perform these procedures.

1. Prepare for the migration from an iSeries™ system that does not support V5R4.

2. Complete the migration from an iSeries system that does not support V5R4.

  If you cannot install i5/OS V5R4 on your source system, you can still migrate your data by saving your source system and then performing a full system recovery onto the target system. This topic describes how to prepare to migrate your data from a system that does not support V5R4 to the new target system.

  This topic describes how to complete the data migration from your system that does not support V5R4 to the new target system.
