Removing IBM® i5/OS fixes

 

To remove one or more i5/OS® fixes, follow these steps.

For the two types of fixes that exist (immediate or delayed), you can choose to remove them temporarily or permanently. The following table provides instructions for removing the two types either temporarily or permanently.

where xxxxx is the fix identifier. If the fix is only temporarily removed, it will be applied again with the next cumulative PTF package. 		Type: 
RMVPTF 
 LICPGM(5722SS1)
 SELECT(SIxxxxx) 
 RMV(*PERM) 
 RMVDEP(*YES)

  1. Type: 
    RMVPTF 
 LICPGM(5722SS1)
 SELECT(SIxxxxx) 
 RMV(*TEMP) 
 DELAYED(*YES)
 RMVDEP(*YES)
    where xxxxx is the fix identifier.

  2. Type the following command and press Enter to do an IPL to the B side: 
    PWRDWNSYS 
 OPTION(*IMMED) 
 RESTART(*YES) 
 IPLSRC(B)

  1. Temporarily remove the delayed fix first.

  2. Type: 
    RMVPTF 
 LICPGM(5722SS1)
 SELECT(SIxxxxx) 
 RMV(*PERM) 
 DELAYED(*YES)
 RMVDEP(*YES)
    where xxxxx is the fix identifier.

To uninstall fixes on a single system or on more than one system, go to the Management Central online help in iSeries™ Navigator. Click Help from the menu bar and select Help Topics. Select What can I do with . . .? to find out what you can do and where you need to be in the iSeries Navigator window to make it happen.
