Configure a logical partition
A logical partition on an iSeries™ server can support Linux, a non-OS/400 operating system.
To run Linux in a logical partition, have V5R4 or later without an Hardware Management Console running in the primary partition.

- Configure the service tools server
- In order to access logical partition functions, first configure the service tools server.
- iSeries Navigator
- iSeries Navigator provides a graphical wizard to help create logical partitions. It comes packaged with iSeries Access for Windows® and does not require an iSeries Access license to use. You will find detailed instructions and explanations in iSeries Navigator help topics.
- In iSeries Navigator, expand My Connections or your active environment.
- Select the primary partition of the server.
- Expand Configuration and Service and select Logical Partitions.
- Right-click the physical server and select Configure Partitions.
