TCP/IP troubleshooter
Welcome!This troubleshooter helps you identify basic problems that may be causing your network communications to fail. The troubleshooter guides you as you use i5/OS® troubleshooting tools to test certain parts of the network structure. If you need additional information on any of the troubleshooting tools or techniques demonstrated in this troubleshooter, you can find detailed information in the TCP/IP troubleshooting topic.
It is assumed that you are unable to communicate with a system or network and that you do not know what is causing the problem.
Before you begin:
- You should have configured TCP/IP on your system. To review the configuration steps for setting up TCP/IP on i5/OS, see TCP/IP setup before continuing with this troubleshooter.
- You need to know these facts about your TCP/IP configuration:
- Your local IP address
- The destination IP address and host name for the interface you are unable to reach
- If you are using a Domain Name System (DNS) server for host name resolution, the IP address for the DNS server
- You need to be familiar with the Work with TCP/IP Network Status (WRKTCPSTS) menu. To display this menu, type NETSTAT or WRKTCPSTS at the command line.
- You need to be familiar with the Configure TCP/IP (CFGTCP) menu. To display this menu, type CFGTCP at the command line.
