Enabling DHCP for Windows 2000 clients
The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) function for Windows® 2000 clients can be enabled or disabled from a GUI graphical interface that the Windows 2000 operating system provides. To enable DHCP, follow these steps:
- On the Start Menu, select Settings > Network and Dial-up Connections.
- Right-click the appropriate connection name and select Properties.
- Select TCP/IP Protocol, and then select Properties.
- On the General tab, select Obtain an IP address from a DHCP server.
- Click OK.

Windows 2000 and Windows XP clients have a utility that displays the client's MAC address and DHCP lease information. It also enables you to release and renew DHCP leases.- Updating DNS A records
