Troubleshooting Ethernet
This information might help you solve problems with your system and connections. You can find out why connections might fail, why frames are dropped, or why PCs cannot connect to your system.
- Viewing QSYSOPR or other message queues
The QSYSOPR and other message queues might contain messages that describe an error and might contain possible solutions for the error. These messages are typically a good place to begin troubleshooting with. You can use the Display Messages (DSPMSG) command to view these messages.
- Troubleshooting LANs
The i5/OS® tools can help you quickly find the problem and possible solutions.
- Physical network problems
If your adapter cannot make a connection to the network, and the product activity log points to a physical network problem, check these problem areas.
- Connection failure and controller descriptions
Sometimes an incorrectly configured controller description can cause a connection failure. The problem source might involve the incorrect configuration of the adapter address, source service access point (SSAP), or destination service access point (DSAP) parameters.
- Remote system connection failure
If a remote system cannot connect to your system, you need to check several areas.
