Token-ring overview
Before you configure the system, you need to know what token-ring functions are supported by your system, what determines a successful connection between local area network (LAN) devices, what connects Systems Network Architecture (SNA) to token ring, and what determines your maximum frame size of token ring.
- Supported token-ring functions
A range of token-ring technologies that support speeds of 4 Mbps, 16 Mbps, and 100 Mbps are supported on the system.- Connection establishment between LAN devices
If you use Systems Network Architecture (SNA) with a LAN protocol, follow these instructions to establish a connection between the LAN devices.- SNA connections to LAN protocols
Systems Network Architecture (SNA) can be connected to a LAN protocol by using one or more service access points (SAPs).- Maximum frame size of token ring
The use of larger frame sizes can improve the performance of your system, because large frames require less processing overhead than the same data that is divided up among many smaller frames.
