Managing VPN

Describes various tasks you can perform to manage your active VPN connections, including how to make changes to, monitor, or delete them.

Use the VPN interface in iSeries™ Navigator to handle all of your management tasks, including:

• Setting default attributes for your connections
  The default values seed the panels that you use to create new policies and connections. You can set defaults for security levels, key session management, key lifetimes, and connection lifetimes.

• Resetting connections in error state
  Resetting connections in error returns them to the idle state.

• Viewing error information
  Complete this task to help you determine why your connection is in error.

• Viewing attributes of active connections
  Complete this task to check the status and other attributes of your active connections.

• Viewing the VPN server trace
  Allows you to configure, start, stop, and view the VPN Connection Manager and VPN Key Manager server traces. This is similar to using the TRCTCPAPP *VPN command from the character-based interface except that you can view the trace while a connection is active.

• Viewing VPN server job logs
  Follow these instructions to view the job logs for the VPN Key Manager and the VPN Connection Manager.

• Viewing attributes of Security Associations (SA)
  Complete this task to display the attributes of the Security Associations (SAs) that are associated with an enabled connection.

• Stopping a VPN connection
  Complete this task to stop active connections.

• Deleting VPN configuration objects
  Before you delete a VPN configuration object from the VPN policy database, make sure you understand how it affects other VPN connections and connection groups.
