What are some guidelines for storing your media?

Store your media where it is safe but accessible. Make sure that they have external labels and that you organize them well so that you can locate them easily. Store a complete set of backup media at a safe, accessible location away from your system. When choosing your off-site storage, consider how quickly you can retrieve the media. Also consider if you have access to your tapes on the weekends and during holidays. Off-site backup is essential in the case of a site loss.
