Installing from a CD-ROM
You can install iSeries™ Access for Windows® on your PC from the iSeries Setup and Operations CD-ROM, SK3T-4098. To install from the iSeries Setup and Operations CD-ROM, follow these steps:
- If you are using a Windows Server 2003, from a command line, run the command: chgusr /install.
- Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
- If your CD-ROM drive is set to automatically run programs, follow these steps:
- Click Install.
- Go to step 5.
- If your CD-ROM drive is not set to automatically run programs, follow these steps:
- Go to the root directory of the CD-ROM and double-click launch.exe.
- Click Install.
- If you are using a Windows Server 2003, after the setup program finishes, from a command line, run the command: chgusr /execute.
Notes:
- During an installation, you cannot install plug-ins, and secondary languages from the system. After the CD install completes, you can use Selective Setup to add these components. You can access Selective Setup by clicking Start > Programs > Selective Setup. When Selective Setup is run, specify the appropriate directory. For information about determining the appropriate directory, see Path discovery for iSeries Access for Windows installations.
- To change the install source for automatic Service Pack and release upgrades, use the Service page of iSeries Access for Windows Properties. If you are installing for the first time and you do not update the install source, CheckVersion checks the CD-ROM drive for service packs and upgrades. If you are upgrading and if CheckVersion is configured to check a certain directory, CheckVersion checks the specified directory and does not check the CD-ROM.
- See the online help and the for more information about plug-ins.
