Types of messages
A variety of system messages are available to help you, such as error messages, printer messages, and alerts.
The system is included with the IBM-supplied message files, stored in the system library, QSYS; the CPF message file, QCPFMSG (for the system and machine interface messages), and the licensed program message files, such as QRPGMSG (for RPG messages). It is important before you handle messages to understand the message types:
- Error messages can indicate both simple and complex errors that relate to the system, devices, or programs.
