How to copy the Japanese DBCS master sort table from a data file

To copy the Japanese DBCS master sort table from a data file, follow these steps:

  1. Enter the CPYIGCSRT command as follows:

    1. Choose the value OPTION(*IN).

    2. Use the FILE parameter to specify the name of the data file that contains a migrated System/36™ or AS/Entry master file or an i5/OS® master table previously copied to the file using OPTION(*OUT) with the CPYIGCSRT command. To migrate your System/36 or AS/Entry master file, use the TRANSFER command with the IFORMAT parameter on the System/36 or AS/Entry to save the #KAMAST master file on diskette. Use the Copy File (CPYF) command to copy the master file #KAMAST from diskette. Use the CPYIGCSRT command as described here to copy data from the file to the i5/OS Japanese DBCS master sort table.

    3. Use the MBR parameter to specify the name of the data file member from which you want to copy the master table data.

  2. Press Enter. Even though the information in the existing Japanese DBCS master sort table is overridden, that table must exist before you can use this command.

  3. To update the Japanese DBCS active table to reflect the new copied information, use the SRTXBLD procedure in the System/36 or AS/Entry environment, or the STRCGU command specifying OPTION(5). This must be done before you can use the sort utility to sort Japanese double-byte characters.
