Reading previous operation

This operation gets the previous record on the keyed sequence access path.

If a record format name is specified, this operation gets the previous record in the keyed sequence access path that matches the record format. The current position in the file is used to locate the previous record. (The READP statement in the RPG language and the READ PRIOR statement in the COBOL language are examples of this operation.)
