Communication between the Producer and Consumer portals
Communication between the Producer portal and the Consumer portal is implemented by interfaces as defined in the WSRP standard.
To allow communication between the Producer portal and the Consumer portal, the Producer provides information that the Consumer requires to be able to communicate with the Producer portal. This includes information about the following:
- The WSRP services that the Producer provides to Consumers.
- The WSRP service description of the Producer. This provides information about various capabilities, aspects, properties of the Producer.
- The WSRP interfaces of the Producer.
- The configuration of the Producer portal.
- The security configuration for WSRP services on the Producer portal.
After receiving the required information from the Producer, the Consumer configures the Consumer portal accordingly before consuming the WSRP services as remote portlets. For example, if the Producer portal provides security for WSRP, the Consumer portal must have the same security setup for WSRP.
Depending on the overall WSRP setup, the Consumer might in turn provide information to the Producer.
