Categorizers and taxonomies
Portal Search provides two types of categorizers.
- Predefined static categorizer. This works by a predefined static set of categories. Portal Search also provides the Taxonomy Manager portlet for managing the predefined static taxonomy.
- User-defined rule-based categorizer. This allows categorization of documents by user-defined rules. You can use the Manage Search portlet to manage the taxonomy of your rule-based categories.
When creating a search collection, you can specify whether a categorizer should be used, and if so, which type. Refer to Creating and configuring search collections.
If users use the Search and Browse portlet to search a collection with a taxonomy, the Search and Browse portlet lists the category information with the search results. Users can then browse all documents in the same category or limit their search to documents in that category only.
- Predefined static taxonomy and categorizer
Portal Search provides a predefined categorization facility. It allows categorization of documents by different subjects.- User-defined rule-based categorizer
Portal Search provides a user-defined rule-based categorization facility. It allows categorization of documents.
