Uninstalling WebSphere Portal Express using the graphical uninstallation program
The uninstall program provides you with the option of uninstalling WebSphere Portal Express only or uninstalling both WebSphere Portal Express and DB2.
Notes:
- You can only perform one uninstallation at a time.
- If install_dir/AppServer/java/bin directory is missing or corrupted, the uninstallation GUI can be launched using a locally installed Java JRE (if one is present). You can check for a Java installation by typing java -version on a command line. Navigate to PortalServer/uninstall/package and typejava -jar uninstall.jar. This will launch the uninstall GUI. If the uninstall GUI is not launched, proceed to the manual removal steps.
The uninstall program removes WebSphere Portal Express and WebSphere Application Server and provides the option of removing DB2. All profiles, including the one used for WebSphere Portal Express, will be removed.
Use the following steps to uninstall using the graphical uninstallation program:
- Launch the uninstallation program by doing one of the following steps:
- Windows only: Select WebSphere Portal Express from the Add or Remove Programs application in the Control Panel.
- From a command prompt, change to the directory:
- install_root/PortalServer/uninstall
Then run the following command, according to your operating system:
- Linux:
./uninstall.sh
- Windows:
uninstall.bat
- Select the language to use for the uninstallation wizard, and then click Next.
- The Welcome panel displays. Click Next.
- Select one of the following uninstallation options, and then click Next:
Option Description Uninstall WebSphere Portal Express only Choose this option to only uninstall WebSphere Portal Express Uninstall WebSphere Portal Express and DB2 Choose this option to uninstall both WebSphere Portal Express and DB2.
- If security is enabled, enter the WebSphere Application Server User ID and Password, and then click Next.
- A panel displays a list of the products that will be uninstalled. Click Next to uninstall.
- A panel displays a successful installation message. Click Finish to close the uninstallation wizard.
- Remove any remaining WebSphere Portal Express directories from your directory structure.
- Restart the machine. This is of particular importance if you intend to install WebSphere Portal Express again on the same machine.
