Images are stored in an image element. Image elements are stored in...

When you store an image in an image element:

Import large files and images.

By default, 10 MB is the largest single file that you can import. If your need to import files larger than 10 MB, an administrator will need to configure your server's inbound buffer size.

Store an image file in Document Manager versus storing an image file in Web Content Management.

An image file can be stored both as a document in Document Manager or as an image element in Web Content Management. You only store an image file in Web Content Management if it is to be used only by Web Content Management. If other WebSphere Portal modules require access to a file, or if you need to use a feature provided by Document Manager, then store the file as a document in Document Manager.

Upload images with non-ASCII characters in the image filename

All non-ASCII characters are removed from the filenames of images imported into Web Content Management items. If a file is found to have no ASCII characters, then the image is given the name of "resource". For example, resource.jpg.
