You integrate Lotus Sametime in the Domino Web Access portlet so that users can send and receive instant messages, maintain an instant contacts list, and make the names of people in mail messages, views and folders online-aware.

This awareness configuration requires single sign-on on all involved servers.

In Domino Web Access, the IBM Lotus Sametime® integration features rely on the ability of the browser to communicate directly with the Lotus Sametime server. This means that the fully-qualified Internet host name of the Lotus Sametime server must be resolvable from the browser (for example, the fully qualified Internet host name for a Lotus Domino server named Sametime/Acme might be...

sametime.acme.com

Therefore, either DNS must be able to resolve this address, or it must be resolved to the proper IP address by some other mechanism (such as by editing the local operating system's hosts file).

The single-sign on configuration you complete for Lotus Domino on the QuickPlace server handles authentication in Domino Web Access. Follow all the instructions in the tasks in the following checklist to set up awareness and chat for Domino Web Access.
