Use the Common PIM portlets with Exchange
The Common PIM (Personal Information Management) portlets – Common Mail and Common Calendar – can connect to a Microsoft Exchange server using the Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) protocol. A user provides the necessary configuration information through the portlets' preferences pages, and a portlet adapter communicates with Exchange to retrieve the user's mail or calendar information.
Common PIM portlet limitations with Exchange
When Common Mail uses Exchange, the following features are not available:
- Finding a message
- Single Sign-On
- Auto-detection of users' mail files when users authenticate with the LDAP server
When Common Calendar uses Exchange, the following features are not available:
- Ability to create anniversaries or reminders on the events page
- FYI fields on the events page, print page, and so on
- Accepting with comments
- View Invitee Status feature
- Group Calendar feature
- Single sign-on
- Auto-detection of users' mail files when users authenticate with WebSphere Portal Express

You allow Common Mail or Common Calendar to connect to an Exchange server over the WebDAV protocol with a secure SSL (HTTPS) connection by modifying the WebSphere Portal Express JVM to accept the Exchange server's SSL certificate and using the IBM Key Management Utility to make the certificate available to the Portal. - Using the Common PIM portlets with Exchange and Java 2 security
In order for the Common Mail and Common Calendar portlets for Exchange to work with IBM WebSphere® Portal Express when Java 2 security is enabled in the site, edit the WebSphere Portal Express policy files.
