View and create vanity URLs

To view and create vanity URLs, we work with the HCL WebSphere Portal toolbar.

To create, update, and delete a vanity URL for a specific page, the user must have editor rights on the page and on the Virtual Resource Vanity_URL.

We can shorten...

...to...

  1. From the portal action bar, select...

Click on Applications at the top of the tree (Not the Applications drop down)

  2. Turn on Edit Mode

  3. From the Applications drop down select "Home"

  4. Select your page then from context menu select Open Page Settings

  5. Set Vanity URL segment. For example, enter "termination"

The system will prefix "vanityurl" to your segment

After creating the vanityurl, create a rewrite rule on the web server.

Note that there have been issues with displaying page menu in Site Manager. Sometimes we do not see menu. Instead the Provider Portal site displays and we are unable to using page settings options. If it happens, try turning off Edit Mode, then clicking "Applications" at top of tree (not drop-down)
