Authoring portlet access rights
Access to the different views and items within the authoring portlet are determined by:
- The role we have been assigned for each content library.
- The role we have been assigned for each view within the authoring portlet.
- The access level we have been assigned for each Web Content Manager item.
The Web Content Manager Java applet
The first time we use a WCM system we will, at some point, be asked to authorize a Java Applet. Click Grant Always and this dialog will no longer display.
If we ever receive an error stating the "Web Content Manager applet failed to load or is unavailable", we may need to reinstall the applet:
- Remove the certificate for the WCM applet. For example, on a Windows system, go to Control Panel > Java Plugin > Certificates. See the Java documentation for details.
- Reinstall or update the JRE.
- Open a new HCL WebSphere Portal session.
- Go to the Web Content Management tab.
- At some point, we will be asked to authorize a Java Applet. Click Grant Always and this dialog will no longer display.
