Fresh full installation

The components below can be found on the HCL License Portal Server (FlexNet) along with software packages:

  1. Installation Manager
  2. IBM WebSphere Application Server 9.0.5.15
  3. HCL WebSphere Portal 9.5
  4. HCL WebSphere Portal latest cumulative fix
  5. HCL WebSphere Portal 9.5
  6. Corresponding edition files based on entitlements:
    • HCL WebSphere Portal Enable
    • HCL WebSphere Portal Extend
    • HCL WebSphere Portal Server
    • HCL WebSphere Portal Express

After installing IBM Installation Manager, configure the repositories for:


Update an existing HCL WebSphere Portal 8.5 or 9.0 system

The path from an existing HCL WebSphere Portal 8.5 or 9.0 system to HCL WebSphere Portal 9.5 is to download the latest cumulative fix as well as the 9.5 files. Then install the cumulative fix via the usual CF process. Afterwards, users start the Installation Manager, then configure the 9.5 repository, and add 9.5. Users who are using HCL WebSphere Portal Enable, HCL WebSphere Portal Extend, or HCL Web Content Manager need to add both the HCL WebSphere Portal 9.5 Server and the applicable edition via Installation Manager.


Deployment of HCL WebSphere Portal to Docker and supported Kubernetes platforms

Users can also test the new HCL DX API Docker image and run it. Visit the Experience API documentation to learn more. The following is the installation path from an existing HCL WebSphere Portal 8.5 or 9.0 system:

  1. Download the HCL WebSphere Portal 9.5 container image files that contains the following:
    • HCL WebSphere Portal Docker container; and
    • The Operator or Ambassador Docker container with a set of scripts to deploy the supported Kubernetes platforms.
  2. Follow the documentation here to deploy to Docker or supported Kubernetes platforms.
  3. Stage the content to the new environment to move from an existing system to HCL WebSphere Portal on Docker or supported Kubernetes platforms.
