Set the search user ID

If we work with EJB on a secure server, we need to set the search user ID on the remote search server. Ensure the SearchAdminUser alias matches the HCL WebSphere Portal administrator information.

To view or change the information stored in the SearchAdminUser alias:

  1. Log in to the WAS console and go to...

Security | Global security | Authentication section | Java Authentication and Authorization Service | J2C authentication data

  2. Edit the SearchAdminUser alias.

  3. Update the user ID and/or password to match the HCL WebSphere Portal administrator information.

  4. If we are working in a clustered environment, synchronize the nodes of the cluster. To synchronize the nodes of the cluster:

    1. Log on to the dmgr and go to...

System Administration | Nodes | nodes | Full Resynchronize

    2. Restart the portal servers.

In a remote search environment, the remote search server must be configured for the same LDAP as HCL WebSphere Portal.

    1. Open the WAS console and click...

    2. On the portal that accesses the EJB, search for the user ID set as the WAS Admin User.

      To find this ID...

      1. From the WAS console go to...

Global Security | Federated LDAP registry

      2. Determine the primary administrative user ID.

    3. To continue installing remote search service manually...

      1. Return to the WAS console of the machine where the EJB is installed.

      2. Type the name that you found as the user ID in a previous step as the search string and click Search. As a result, the user ID and its configuration parameters are displayed in the Available box.

      3. Add this user ID to the Selected box by clicking the double-angled bracket > > button.

      4. Click OK to save the updates.

      5. Restart the WAS on which the PSEStandalone is installed.
