Back up files, databases, and the LDAP server(s)

Periodically run an automated backup procedure for the HCL WebSphere Portal file system, databases, and LDAP server(s) using a backup and recovery utility of the choice. Remember to run the backup procedure before performing critical system-wide changes, such as upgrading to a new version of HCL WebSphere Portal or installing interim fixes and fix packs.

Perform the following tasks to back up the HCL WebSphere Portal file system, databases, and LDAP server(s):

1. Complete prerequisites for backup
   
2. Back up the HCL WebSphere Portal file system
   
3. Back up the LDAP server(s)
   
4. Back up the HCL WebSphere Portal database
   
5. Back up the IBM Installation Manager
