Before you install DB2 Connect™ Personal Edition on Windows^® operating systems, ensure that the system you choose meets the necessary operating system, hardware, software, and communications requirements.

Operating system requirements

One of:

• Windows XP Professional Edition (32-bit and 64-bit) with Service Pack 2 or later

• Windows 2003 with Service Pack 1 or later:

  • Standard Edition (32-bit and 64-bit)

  • Advanced Edition (32-bit and 64-bit)

  • Datacenter Edition (32-bit and 64-bit)

Software requirements

• MDAC 2.8 is required. The DB2^® Setup wizard will install MDAC 2.8 if it is not already installed.

• A browser is required to view online help.

Communication requirements

• TCP/IP is supported and supplied by the operating system.

Windows (64–bit) considerations

• SQL requests sent by remote 32-bit clients from earlier versions are supported.
