Structured content
WebSphere Commerce Search can search for both structured and unstructured content. Structured content includes items in the product catalog and delivers search results based on items that are sold in your store. When you work with search index types, structured content is categorized under the catalog entry search index. Structure Content has two sub types, Catalog Entry, and Catalog Group.
Structured content can generally be indexed and retrieved efficiently, as its elements and construction are known and organized as expected. Structured content typically includes your store's product catalog and delivers search results based on items that are sold in the store. This content includes items such as the catalog, catalog entries, categories, products, SKUs, attributes, and descriptions. The content can be accessed in the storefront by browsing the catalog with faceted navigation, and in search results.
For example, when a search for notebook is submitted, the search results contain structured content such as notebook computers and other products that are sold from your store's catalog.
WebSphere Commerce Search indexes and retrieves structured content, making the content quickly available in storefront facets and search results.
